Paramount Channel on Spain’s FTA DTT
March 5, 2012
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) and Spanish media group Vocento have reached an agreement to launch in April Paramount Channel on Spain’s DTT platform as an FTA channel on frequency previously used by the former TV channel La 10.
Paramount Channel will offer movies from the archives of Paramount Pictures with genres including drama, comedy, action, and thrillers. Vocento currently operates a multiplex with up to four channels: Disney Channel, MTV, Intereconomia and now Paramount Channel. The company has leased all its digital frequencies to big groups for lack of financial resources enough to maintain an annual estimated cost of between €3 and €5 million per channel.
