As expected, Sony Corp has appointed Kazuo Hirai as its next president and CEO. Current Executive Chairman Sir Howard Stringer stays in post until June when he will move upstairs to become Chairman of Sony’s board.
Hirai is 51 years-old, and is credited with the success of Sony’s PlayStation videogame system. Hirai will officially take up his position looking after the electronics giant in April and working alongside Sir Howard.
