Google TV stalled until software improved
May 9, 2011
On the eve of Google’s San Francisco developer conference there are reports in the US that it has decided to delay the release of any further TV products until it could make significant improvements.
Google TV received lukewarm reviews on its release of the $600 STBs from Sony and Logitech and the company has failed to sign significant content partners. The software developments will be downloadable to sets already in the market. It is said to be likely to be based on the new Honeycomb version of the Android operating system for tablets – though this, too, has been criticised as ‘buggy’.
