OB 3D trucks commissioned
January 29, 2010
Sony Professional Europe has been selected by BSkyB and Telegenic to design and build one of the world's first 3D Outside Broadcast (OB) trucks, due for delivery in April 2010. Sky, Telegenic and Sony have been working together to develop a next generation outside broadcast vehicle that will deliver new production methods to produce immersive live content in 3D.
Visions, the largest independent Outside Broadcast facilities company in the UK, has also revealed that Sky Sports has commissioned two new 3Gb/s-capable OB trucks for live Premier League and UEFA Champions League football coverage.
Visions' two new trucks will be ready by July 2010, and will be used for the Sky Sports coverage of the opening match of the new Barclays Premier League in August. Outside of football commitments, the trucks will be available for other Outside Broadcast events.
