Portugal’s SIC goes all HD
October 7, 2016
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
SIC has become the first broadcaster in Portugal to make available all of its national TV channels in High Definition.
The HD channels were launched on the occasion of SIC’s 24th anniversary and are available on all national pay-TV operators (Vodafone Portugal, Meo, Nowo and NOS).
The six channels are general entertainment service SIC HD, as well as thematic channels SIC Notícias HD; SIC Radical HD; SIC Mulher HD; SIC Caras HD; and SIC K HD.
SIC also has two international TV channels – SIC Internacional and DSTV Kids (distributed only in Angola and Mozambique).
Of the eight TV channels, seven are available outside of Portugal – in over 13 countries and distributed by 30 pay-TV platforms.
SIC has also relaunched its website, making available a live stream of its general entertainment channel, and viewers can also stream catch-up content.
