Brazil’s TIM telco (a 67 per cent-owned subsidiary of Telecom Italia Mobile) is readying for 4K transmissions.  Its latest ‘Live Blue’ set-top box will be upgraded to allow for 4K-quality signals.

The new version will have a larger hard drive to cope with bigger file sizes and to cope with OTT transmissions. It will continue to handle TIM’s ‘Alphaville’ internet services.

Flavio Lan, TIM Brazil’s MD, says they are in final discussions with the STB suppliers, but commercialisation of services would begin “within weeks”.
