Kent axes online TV channel
February 11, 2010
Kent County Council's internet TV channel, Kent TV, which is run by Ten Alps, is to be axed.
Launched in 2007 for an initial investment of £1.4 million (E1.6m) and had annual running costs of £600,000. The service aimed to cover a range of topics of interest to residents and visitors to the county. Critics said it was non-essential and should not be paid for by council tax.
The Kent council leader, Paul Carter, said the channel was no longer a priority in “different and difficult economic times”.
