The two scientists who invented the Organic Light Emitting Diodes, commonly known as OLEDs, and seen in giant TV sets, smartphones and tablets, are in the running for a Nobel Prize for chemistry.

The Awards will be announced on October 8th, and the Intellectual Property & Science unit of Thomson Reuters has studied the probable winners, and its forecasting methods have successfully predicted 35 Nobel laureates since 2002.

The possible winners are named by Reuters as Ching W. Tang of the University of Rochester in New York and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Steven Van Slyke, CTO at Kateeva, Inc. in Menlo Park, California.
