Netflix to produce German content
September 1, 2014
Netflix will produce an original series in Germany, according to CEO Reed Hastings.
Hastings told German news magazine Der Spiegel that the company “will certainly also produce in Germany” – one of the six European markets in which it is set to launch imminently.
Hastings also told the magazine that his priority was to “understand the viewing habits” of Germany audiences rather than to establish Netflix as the market leader immediately. “Even if we reach the third or fifth rank, it will be okay,” he commented.
Netflix is scheduled to launch in Germany on September 16th.
