Spacecom, the operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, has confirmed that the AMOS-4 communications satellite has successfully arrived at 65°E, its designated permanent service location. From here, the satellite will service broadband and broadcast providers throughout Southeast Asia, Russia, China and the Middle East.

Following its launch, the satellite fulfilled IOT (In Orbit Tests) at 67.25°E before moving to 65°E. Commercial operations are scheduled to begin in early January 2014.

“With AMOS-4 in position over Asia our business program in the region is progressing more quickly,” stated Spacecom CEO and president, David Pollack. “The satellite will bring the AMOS brand’s tradition of providing top quality solutions to these new markets. We are expanding our presence and extending our reach in becoming a global satellite operator.”

AMOS-4 has Ku-band and high power Ka-band transponders with steerable beams. These Ku and Ka transponders create a powerful platform, enabling a wide range of cross-region, cross-band and cross-beam connectivity options to reach the vast urban and rural areas of these regions. AMOS-4 provides extensive traditional and next-generation broadcast, emerging interactive, mobile and broadband reach for satellite services, including Direct-To-Home (DTH), video distribution, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) communications and broadband Internet.
