Italy’s Telecapri claims 3D innovation
February 14, 2013
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
Italian regional TV channel TeleCapri has started trial broadcasts in 3D on its DTT multiplex covering the Campania region.
Thanks to an innovative system developed by engineer Gregorio Pietrangelo, viewing in 3D will be possible on both the new generation of TVs already compatible with 3D as well as conventional TV sets through the use of traditional plastic blue and red glasses.
The broadcaster is in negotiations with consumer electronics stores for the distribution of glasses for 3D viewing on TVs that do not support this technology.
At the moment the test-programmes in 3D can be seen daily from 08:30 to 09:00 and from 10:30 to 11:00.
In addition to the launch of 3D, Telecapri is also boosting its programme schedule, with the addition of numerous movie titles to its already existing movie library.
