Spain: VoD revenue down 48%

The TV crisis is intensifying in Spain with a drop of 16.4 per cent in advertising to €419.9 million in the first quarter of 2012.
Public TV channels took the worst part of it with a fall of 30.55 per cent to €36.1 million against €51.9 million the same period last year. Prívate TV channels ad revenues fell by 14.8 per cent.
In pay TV subscribers revenue grew by 4.5 per cent but ppv and VoD revenues dropped by 47.9 per cent.
Pay TV subscribers fell by 0.8 per cent in the first quarter with cable TV significantly falling by 3.4 per cent followed by satellite TV with 0.8 per cent and pay DTT with 0.11 per cent. IPTV grew by 2.8 per cent.
