HBO released the trailer for its upcoming Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone series on March 25th, delivering +277 million organic (non-paid) views across platforms in its first 48 hours, becoming the most-watched trailer in HBO and HBO Max history and exceeding the previous record (set by The Last of Us season 2) by more than double.

The new Harry Potter TV series, based on J.K. Rowling’s celebrated books, is written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner. Mylod will executive produce and direct multiple episodes of the series for HBO in association with Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros Television. The series is executive produced by Rowling, Neil Blair, and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films.

In December 2024, Gardiner and Mylod, explained that the series would be an “evolution of the stories” rather than a retelling of the existing movies.

The series will debut this Christmas on HBO and will be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max which launched in the UK last week.
