Starlink: 10m customers and counting
February 16, 2026
Starlink is connecting more than 10 million ‘active customers’ with high-speed internet across 160 countries, territories and many other markets. “Thank you to all our customers around the world,” said a message from the company’s president and COO Gwynne Shotwell.
Starlink was also licensed to operate in Vietnam, it was announced on February 14th. Vietnam’ss report said the Ministry of Science and Technology granted Starlink’s local unit a licence to provide both fixed and mobile satellite Internet services. Starlink was already ‘testing’ its system on a trial basis.
The approval came ahead of an expected visit this week of Vietnam’s top leader To Lam to the US to attend the inaugural meeting of US President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace initiative to address global conflicts.
The below list shows how Starlink is now mopping up some smaller markets, however there are plenty of big beasts which have not signed up for Starlink, notably India, Turkey, Egypt (and almost all of North Africa), Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and Kuwait. Southern Africa including South Africa, Namibia, Angola and Tanzania are still pending – and Russia (where a licence is not expected or requested). China is another unlikely market because it has its own systems.
The 150-160 licences:
150th: Liechtenstein
151st: Falkland Islands (Malvinas)
152nd: Montserrat
153rd: South Korea
154th: Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba
155th: Sao Tome and Principe
156th: Cayman Islands
157th: Bolivia
158th: Senegal
159th: Tajikistan
160th: Vietnam
