Mediapro has launched a new virtual production studio in Montevideo, Uruguay. The new facility joins the group’s existing studios in Barcelona, Miami, New York, Buenos Aires and Lisbon.

The 700-square-metre studio is fully equipped with state-of-the-art LED technology and is designed to handle end-to-end production, from concept development through to on-set execution and post-production.

The first project shot in the newly launched space was a pair of music videos by Montevideo-based band No Te Va Gustar. Teams from several MediaproO hubs collaborated across borders to design the creative approach, provide production support, and deliver the full technical infrastructure – including the creation of the virtual environments where the action takes place.

Virtual production gives creators greater control on set while streamlining production schedules by eliminating the need for travel, daylight windows, or weather considerations. The use of LED volumes allows directors and technical crews to preview scenes in real time and make creative adjustments on the fly, directly during filming.

Mediapro has operated in Uruguay since 2019 and currently runs two companies in the country: Cimarrón, a player in Latin America’s audiovisual industry, and Colour by Mediapro, a postproduction house.
