Art Detectives sets Acorn TV viewing record
June 27, 2025
Acorn TV has repoted that its new series Art Detectives, a crime and art world drama, starring and executive produced by Stephen Moyer (True Blood, Sexy Beast) is the #1 most-watched new series premiere of all time on the US streaming platform, eclipsing the 2022 series premiere of Harry Wild.
Art Detectives is the #2 series premiere of all time in subscriber acquisition, only behind another standout success that premiered earlier this year, the detective series A Remarkable Place to Die.
“We are thrilled by the overwhelming response to Art Detectives,” said executive producer Paul Powell. “It’s a joy to see viewers taking Mick and Shazia to their hearts and embracing their world of fakes and forgeries. We couldn’t have asked for a better home than Acorn TV, a place where murder mysteries are treated like priceless masterpieces.”
Art Detectives premiered on Acorn TV on June 9th. New episodes of the six-episode first season appear on every Monday through July 7th.
Art Detectives is centered around the Heritage Crime Unit, a police department consisting of art-loving DI Mick Palmer (Moyer) and straight-talking DC Shazia Malik (Nina Singh). Together, they solve murders connected to the world of art and antiques, from Old Master paintings, to Banksy street art, medieval manuscripts and collectible vinyl.
AMC Networks’ Acorn TV is a US streaming service specializing in premium British and international television.
