Super Mario overtakes Frozen at Box Office

The Super Mario Bros Movie continues to set Box Office records and has now become the second biggest animated movie in cinema history, overtaking Frozen.
The adaptation of the popular Nintendo video game series from Universal and Illumination, starring Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jack Black, has now hit $1.3 billion (€1.22bn) at the global Box Office according to Variety, surpassing the $1.28 billion accumulated by Disney’s Frozen released in 2013.
The sequel to Frozen released in 2019, aptly titled Frozen II, is currently the highest grossing animated movie of all time, taking $1.45 billion.
The Super Mario Bros Movie is still in many cinemas after being released on April 5th, and has been available via PVoD since May 16th (in the US) and May 22nd (in the UK).
