MBC, Barajoun animation partnership
June 9, 2022
Dubai-based broadcasting giant MBC is linking with Arabic animation house Barajoun Entertainment to co-produce five Arabic language animated feature films over the next three years.
MBC’s Shahid VIP streaming service will air the originals exclusively.
MBC Drama and Shahid VIP Content Tareq Al-Ibrahim, commented: “It is important for us to tell stories that reflect the reality of the region, carry its values, reflect its history and even foresee its future.”
Project 1 of the five is a sci-fi story and will be screened in July.
Barajoun is headed by former banker Ayman Jamal, who established the business in 2011 as the MENA region’s first all-animation studio. Jamal produced the 2015 Bilal movie inspired by the real-life story of Bilal Ibn Rabah, an African slave.
