Cox stops at thePlatform
May 11, 2011
White-label video publishing company thePlatform has been selected by Cox Communications to provide the back-end video management for Cox’s newly-announced video initiative, Cox TV Online.
Cox is using thePlatform’s mpx video publishing system, expanding upon thePlatform’s history of managing Cox’s video for Cox.com since 2008. This implementation enables programming networks to maintain the integrity of embedded custom video players on Cox’s website, while providing Cox subscribers with a unified search and discovery experience.
Steve Gorman, vice president, converged services and user experience at Cox, said the company was committed to delivering its customers the best online video experience. offering Ian Blaine, CEO of thePlatform, said that the deployment gave the ability to present unified content search and discovery across a variety of programmers’ video players. “With mpx, Cox subscribers can watch premium video instantly, while the business policies and financial obligations between Cox and programmers are maintained,” he explained.
