Movistar pay-TV subs rocket

The number of pay-TV subscribers to Telefónica’s Movistar in Spain has soared in the third quarter with a gain of 100,000, up 7.3 per cent, to over 4 million.
The convergent packages added 81,000 new customers with an ARPU of €89.2, up 1.8 per cent, to 4.6 million, up 4 per cent year-on-year.
FTTH customers grew by 15 per cent to 3.8 million, representing over 50 per cent of all fixed broadband customers in the country.
Globally, Movistar currently has 8.8 million pay-TV subscribers. To September 30th, the company made a profit of €2.7 billion, up 11.6 per cent although its revenues were down 7.9 per cent to €35.7 billion.
