The Spanish Guardia Civil has arrested three people in Alicante, east of Spain, for illegally distributing pay-TV channels to around 500 foreigners, mostly British citizens, in the village of Formentera del Segura.

The criminals tentatively earned around €450,000 from the operation, receiving between €500 and €3,000 a week from customers – at a loss of between €15,000 and €20,000 per week for the pay-TV platforms.

The pirates used the card sharing system to distribute the signals charging the customers €25 a month. The mastermind behind the group was a Briton living in the UK who travelled frequently to Spain.
