Netflix has taken great strides in being accepted into the British mainstream TV establishment after winning its first major BAFTA award at the The Virgin TV British Academy Television Awards on May 13th; Vanessa Kirby’s performance as Princess Margaret in The Crown earned her The Best Supporting Actress award.
Last year the hugely popular royal drama earned five nominations but won nothing.
Accepting the award, Kirby said: “I just felt like the luckiest person in the world to play someone so colourful and vivid and brave and strong. So this is for Margaret, wherever she is.”
