Telstra and Foxtel close to TV deal
January 6, 2011
Foxtel is close to finalising a deal to supply Internet television channels to Telstra’s T-Box digital recorder in Australia. This is seen as a significant move for the pay-TV company and its largest shareholder, according to reports in the Australian press.
The deal, which would allow Telstra to show selected Foxtel channels to T-Box customers, could be announced in coming weeks after six months of talks.
Telstra and Foxtel have a complicated relationship when it comes to media content, given the T-Box could be regarded as competition for Foxtel’s iQ digital recorder.
