Spain’s 2026 World Cup final victory over Argentina on July 19th delivered the biggest television audience ever recorded for a World Cup match in Spain, attracting an average of 15.7 million viewers and an 87.1 per cent audience share, according to preliminary figures released by Barlovento Comunicación, based on data from Fiftyfive.

The audience figure combines viewing across La 1, La2Cat, Teledeporte and DAZN, covering both the 90 minutes and extra time of the tournament final.

A total of 20.1 million people watched at least part of the match or extra time during the broadcast, underlining the nationwide appeal of Spain’s historic victory.

According to Barlovento, the audience makes the final the most-watched FIFA World Cup match ever broadcast in Spain. It also ranks as the second most-watched television event in Spanish history (with the first being the Spain v Portugal Euro 2012 semi-final), highlighting the high level of public interest generated by Spain’s latest World Cup success.
