Viaplay, DAZN, Premier Sports, blue sport sign UEFA deals

Viaplay Group has extended its exclusive rights to men’s UEFA Champions League football in Denmark, and the exclusive rights to the UEFA Europa League and UEFA Conference League in Norway and Finland, for four years to 2031.

Peter Nørrelund, Viaplay Group EVP and Chief Sports & Business Development Officer, added: “The UEFA Champions League has always been relevant to our sports offer in Denmark, and the new extended format with the league phase in the Fall has brought even more excitement to the competition. And the same goes for Norway and Finland where the local teams participating in the Europa and Conference Leagues will add local flavour to our strong portfolio of football rights that includes the English Premier League, FA Cup and Championship amongst others.”

Additionally, blue Sport is continuing its long-standing partnership with UC3 that sees all UEFA Champions League matches continue to be shown live across Switzerland.

This is and remains a matter close to our hearts.” Cyril Wick, CEO of blue Entertainment, adds: “Our customers can also be pleased that they will continue to find top football in the best picture quality from one provider. blue Sport remains the home of football in Switzerland.” The broadcasting rights for the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Conference League in Switzerlamd will be held by DAZN.

DAZN, meanwhile, has also strengthened its portfolio of UEFA men’s club competitions media rights in Portugal for the 2027/28 to 2030/31 cycle, securing 93 per cent of all matches across the competitions, representing a total of 508 games. In Austria, DAZN will also be the home of the Champions League until at least 2031. A total of 186 live matches per season, including all Wednesday games and all Tuesday games except one game, will run exclusively on DAZN as individual games and in the conference with up to seven games in parallel.

Premier Sports has announced an extension of its broadcast partnership with UEFA, retaining first-choice Tuesday night UEFA Champions League fixtures until 2031 in Ireland. Ryle Nugent, CEO of Premier Sports Ireland, said: “We are delighted to secure a four-year extension of our UEFA Champions League rights, ensuring Premier Sports remains the destination for Irish football fans. Our first-choice Tuesday night fixtures have become an essential ‘appointment to view’ for fans, and we look forward to elevating our coverage even further as we bring the drama and prestige of this competition to our audiences through 2031.”
