Thaicom targets $300m revenues from Thaicom 10

Thaicom’s CEO Patompob Suwansiri says that while by 2027 it still expects around 70 per cent of its annual revenues will come from its geostationary fleet, and helped by its Thaicom 10 satellite which will then be fully operational. Thaicom 10 is being built by Airbus and will be launched on a SpaceX rocket during 2027.

But then Suwansiri expects revenues to grow. Eutelsat is already committed to leasing 50 per cent of Thaicom 10, and the bulk of the rest could come from other dedicated “partner users”.

Thaicom 10 will be placed at 119.5 degrees East and will join Thaicom 9 – a so-called micro-GEO craft built by Astranis – into orbit in late Q2 2026 to retain the customer base and meet rapid demands, providing services to both Thai and Indian clients.

The CEO added that from 2027 onwards, revenue will multiply, targeting THB 8–10 billion annually ($270m-$300m) once Thaicom 10 is fully operational.

Currently, Thaicom carries almost 400 satellite TV channels and serves about 10 million viewers. It sees India as a very attractive target market. Thaicom is already licensed and approved by the Indian regulators.

Thaicom has also linked up with Hughes India, which has a 70 percent local market share, to lease signals from Thaicom for corporate clients such as banks, and will use Hughes for in-flight WiFi services to airlines. Indian-based revenues currently account for 10-15 per cent of Thaicom’s revenues.
