Home audiences set for wide-open Premier League title race for 2025/26
August 7, 2025

With the likes of Sky Sports, TNT Sports, and Premier Sports all set to follow the action in the UK and Ireland, TV audiences could be poised to witness a wide-open battle for the 2025/26 Premier League crown.
Having agreed to an eye-watering £6.7 billion domestic television deal back in 2023, this will be the first season of the new contract and it could well be one to remember in the English top flight.
Liverpool the Ones to Beat
Claiming the 2024/25 title in his first campaign in charge, manager Arne Slot certainly hit the ground running in the English game last term. Winning the title by 10 points, Liverpool are now the 7/4 favourites with a Premier League bet to claim the trophy again this season. Arsenal once again had to settle for second place and TV audiences will be watching to see if the Gunners, who are 9/4 in the football betting markets for the title, can go one better this time around. Liverpool will certainly be a tough team to catch, as they dominated the competition last term and have strengthened their squad over the summer transfer window.
Securing the services of key figures Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk at the back end of last season, the world-class pair will once again be on our TV screens this Premier League campaign. Audiences will also see some new faces at the Anfield outfit, who have not been willing to simply rest on their laurels, knowing the chasing pack are doing all they can to narrow the gap ahead of what promises to be an intriguing season.
Gunners and Cityzens in the Mix
While Liverpool might be the early favourites to retain the English crown, Arsenal and Manchester City will have their own ambitions of Premier League glory. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been the nearly men in the league in recent years. For the last three seasons, the Gunners have just fallen short, finishing in the runner-up spot. Perhaps lacking a star striker to get the goals needed to get over the line, Arsenal have turned to Swedish forward Viktor Gyökeres to deliver the goals they hope will take them to the title this season.
As for Manchester City, the 2024/25 campaign fell below their usual high standards, and their fans across the planet will be hoping to witness their side lifting the trophy this season. The loss of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri in the heart of midfield last term was a significant blow, but the Spain international is now fit and raring to go for the new campaign. Manager Pep Guardiola and his team will have looked hard at what went wrong last season and they certainly can’t be overlooked for the title in the upcoming campaign.
Regarded by many as the best league in the world, it’s little wonder so many tune in to watch the Premier League on TV. Audiences this season could be treated to a compelling title race, one that might just go down to the wire.
