Sky Kids commissions My Friend Maisy
June 10, 2025

Sky Kids has commissioned My Friend Maisy, a new 2D animated preschool series, from BBC Studios and Trustbridge Entertainment, based on the bestselling books by Lucy Cousins, which have sold over 46 million copies worldwide.
Head writer Matilda Tristram (Peppa Pig), helps bring the series to life, following Maisy and her friends – Tallulah, Eddie, Charley and Cyril – on imaginative, joy-filled adventures. From flying a rocket to the moon and sliding down rainbows, to fixing cars in her garage and meeting stripey zebras, Maisy shows that with curiosity and kindness, anything is possible.
For decades, the Maisy books have captivated children with their endearing characters, charming, simple tales and vibrant art style.
“Maisy is such a loved classic book character and we’re so excited to be working with BBC Studios, Trustbridge Entertainment and Lucy Cousins to bring her to life in a contemporary way for Sky Kids families. With a real sense of joy in every episode, My Friend Maisy is the perfect blend of fun and adventure for young viewers,” said Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids Content at Sky.
Managing Director of BBC Studios Kids & Family, Cecilia Persson, added: “This vibrant new series embraces the legacy of Lucy Cousins’ books with their bold illustrations, quirky humour and charm while pushing the boundaries of classic preschool storytelling, inviting children to enjoy Maisy like never before.”
My Friend Maisy is co-produced by BBC Studios Kids & Family Productions and Trustbridge Entertainment, with animation created by A Productions and Karrot in collaboration.
My Friend Maisy was commissioned by Murphy and Cécile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios & Chief Content Officer for Sky. The Commissioning Editor for Sky is Ian France. The series will premiere on Sky Kids in 2026.
