May 19, 2025
Vianeos, the IPTV & OTT company, provided the Orbit Communication Group in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with a complete OTT platform, including mobile applications for Apple and Android devices. These applications allow Salam TV subscribers to access video content on their smartphones and tablets.
Salam, previously known as ITC part of the Orbit Communication Group, is the leading Saudi-based telecom provider offering next-generation solutions for broadband, connectivity, television, cloud computing, managed services, security, satellite services, and internet for the government, business, wholesale and consumer sectors.
The Salam subscribers can now enjoy the content they have on their set-top box directly from their smartphones and tablets free of charge. The Orbit now application offers hundreds of hours of content and is one of the most advanced applications in the Middle East region, providing the most important number of features, such as:
- Live TV channels with an intelligent recommendation engine
- Catch-up TV with programmes available for seven days
- SVoD content with movies, series, documentaries and more
- Record shows in the cloud with the nPVR feature
- An advanced smart TV Guide with programs for seven days in the past and future
The Orbit now application also offers ways of customizing the user experience by providing multiple ways of personalising the application, like:
- Putting a reminder on a live TV show
- Creating a list of favourite channels
- Saving shows and VoD in a watchlist to watch them later
- Managing multiple profiles
- Parental lock feature per content or per channel, and more
Vianeos supplied the end-to-end solution by providing the back-end, the UI/UX design, and the CMS tools.
Orbit’s team stated: “We are thrilled to partner with Vianeos to launch our OTT platform. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our mission to deliver innovative, high-quality digital platforms to audiences worldwide. We look forward to revolutionising the digital entertainment landscape together.”
Hervé Cimetiere, Chairman at Vianeos, commented: “We are delighted to have been working with OCC on this exciting project. We believe that OCC’s strategy aligns with current market trends, and we view the OTT approach as a strong complement to what Orbit has built so far. This partnership has been highly productive, and we are on track to roll out new features in the coming months.”
