February 19, 2025
Vivek Sharma has been appointed as the new Editor of ITV’s This Morning.
Sharma has been in the role of Associate Editor on This Morning for the last 15 months and will start in his new position, taking over from the programme’s outgoing Editor, Martin Frizell, on March 3rd.
Sharma ’s TV career to date spans over two decades, beginning as a journalist at ITN. After 10 years of working in news programming, Sharma joined ITV as Head of Features on Lorraine before returning to news when he helped launch Good Morning Britain as Assistant Editor. He then spent four years as Deputy Editor on This Morning and during this time, oversaw the increase in original content for the programme’s social channels and launch of the This Morning app. He also then moved on to edit Loose Women, before taking up a post at Channel 4 as Executive Editor of Steph’s Packed Lunch.
This Morning, now in its 37th year, is one of the UK’s longest-running programmes. Over the last decade, it has been awarded a BAFTA and won seven National Television Awards, seven TV Choice Awards, and seven Cannes Lions, including two golds. It is one of the most-watched shows on ITVX and recently celebrated the milestone of over one billion views across its social platforms.
Sharma said: “Having grown up watching the show, it’s an incredible privilege and honour to take on the role of Editor of This Morning. Over the last 37 years, the show has become a national institution and has been responsible for some of the most memorable moments on television. It’s a cherished part of millions of people’s mornings on TV and on social media, where someone interacts with This Morning content every second. The team on and off camera are world-class and I can’t wait to work alongside them in my new role, as we shape the future of this iconic brand.”
Emma Gormley, Managing Director, ITV Studios Daytime, added: “I am delighted that Vivek has accepted the role. Vivek is a superb leader and journalist, and a programme maker of the highest calibre. He is held in high regard by all those who have worked with him inside and outside of ITV. I very much look forward to working with him on the next era of This Morning, across both our on screen content and our digital platforms.”
