ITV has announced that Mcfly’s 21st Birthday Party, produced by Gold Dust Films, is set to air on ITV1, ITVX and STV Player later this year. Recorded at The O2 during the band’s 21st birthday concert, the show took fans on a journey through McFly’s history from their breakthrough hit Five Colours in Her Hair to last year’s full force rock album Power to Play. Plus there will be a look at some behind the scenes moments between the band and how they put the celebration together.
McFly commented: “We still can’t believe it’s been 21 years, but what a way to look back on many fond memories and celebrate with the people that made it all happen – our fans. We had the best time playing the shows and can’t wait for audiences at home to get the chance to party with us – we’ll only turn 21 once!”
Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment & Daytime Commissioning ITV, said: “Bringing the band’s 21st celebrations to audiences at ITV and ITVX is really exciting and we can’t wait for fans to see the show – it’s fantastic. We’d love to celebrate the next milestone birthday together too!”
Liz Clare of Gold Dust Films added: “Gold Dust Films has loved being part of this massive celebration of McFly and 21 years of their music. It’s been a passion project for the band and we are delighted to be bringing this very special concert and all their backstage fun to ITV. But most importantly we are pleased to be able to give their fans the chance to be part of the biggest party in town.”
Additionally, An Evening with Dua Lipa produced by Fulwell 73 and Radical22 Productions, will also air on ITV1, ITVX and STV Player later this year. Recorded at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall on October 17th, global superstar Dua Lipa reimagined her hit pop songs especially for the occasion, accompanied by the 53-piece Heritage Orchestra conducted by Ben Foster, a 14-strong choir and her 7-piece band.
The special will be interspersed with intimate interviews, in which Lipa reflects on the pivotal moments that have shaped her life and illustrious career.
Rawcliffe commented: “We‘re looking forward to bringing Dua’s exceptional Royal Albert Hall debut to audiences when it airs on ITV1 and ITVX later this year. It was such a special evening full of Dua’s top hits performed for the first time with The Heritage Orchestra, and none other than Elton John – it’s one not to be missed.”
Ben Winston, Partner at Fulwell 73, added: “Dua Lipa is a phenomenal talent at the top of her game. Everyone at Fulwell 73 is so honoured and excited to be making this with her. I think it will be one of those shows that is remembered for a very long time.”
