Hawaiian Airlines says it will now be offering free Starlink broadband connectivity to its passengers. Service will start next year on the airline’s trans-Pacific flights.
“When we launch with Starlink we will have the best connectivity experience available in the air,” commented Hawaiian Airlines CEO Peter Ingram.
Jonathan Hofeller, SpaceX VP/Starlink commercial sales, said its agreement with Hawaiian Airlines makes “hassles like downloading movies before take-off a relic of the past.”
Hawaiian plans to start installing Starlink equipment for next year on Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft, and the airline’s incoming fleet of Boeing 787-9s, as SpaceX continues to work towards certifying the aircraft’s antenna and terminal.
Starlink recently announced a similar installation agreement with private jet-charter airline JSX.
