France: 5.5m daily SVoD users

Some 5.5 million French viewers, representing nine per cent of the country’s population, used SVoD on a daily basis in 2018. It is a significant 61 per cent growth on 2017, according to a study from Médiamétrie.
SVoD has gained 2.1 million daily users year on year and has progressively entered viewing habits. 96 per cent of SVoD users say they intend to renew their subscription, whilst 15 per cent even add they intend subscribing to a second platform.
For 71 per cent of users, the TV set remains the main device to access SVoD platforms, However, three quarters of users also regularly access SVoD content from another device, either a computer (55 per cent), a smartphone (38 per cent) or a tablet ( 26 per cent).
Médiamétrie adds that the average age of SVoD users is 34 years old.
