La Liga, Spain’s top flight football league, has launched LaLiga Sports TV, claiming to be the first major European OTT service dedicated to niche sports.
The service is available for free on tablets, mobile phones, Samsung Smart TVs and via mirroring (Chromecast, Apple TV, Samsung).
The service offers a line-up of live and VoD content that includes sports such as basketball, rugby, hockey, badminton, handball, superbikes, table tennis, billiards, boxing, US soccer, cycling, petanque, and more.
The platform also offers lower league football from LaLiga 1/2/3, for a subscription fee of €14.99 a year or €2.99 a month.
La Liga President Javier Tebas commented: “Our goal is giving more visibility to minority sports with access whenever, wherever and whatever the customer wants.”
