AT&T settle carriage with Viacom
March 25, 2019
After negotiating over the weekend, AT&T and Viacom have announced that they had reached an agreement to renew their US carriage agreement.
Details of the deal were not revealed and it isn’t clear how much Viacom will be paid, or which networks will be on AT&T’s outlets, including DirecTV.
In a classic stand-off, Viacom stood to lose what analysts estimated to be subscriber fees of about $1 billion and ad revenue of about $1 billion whilst AT&T risked losing subcribers faster than ever without Viacom brands which include Nickelodeon and Comedy Central among others.
