Spain: First video transmission on 5G
February 27, 2019
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Orange and Ericsson have carried out the first video transmission in real time on a 5G network during MWC in Barcelona.
The transmission was synchronised from three different locations (Barcelona, Madrid and MWC) through a 5G network compatible with a 3GPP standard.
Over the last year, Orange and Ericsson have been carrying out 5G trials in Spain in a Madrid street with connection speeds of 15Gbps average (up to 17 Gbps maximum) through the 26 GHz band with up to 800 MHz.
With a speed of 15 Gbps, four HD movies could be downloaded in a second, or six seasons of Game of Thrones in 30 seconds.
