Spain: Movistar adds 4K content
August 22, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Telefónica’s pay-TV platform Movistar Plus will air 4K content in September for the first time with the transmission of La Liga football matches on the Movistar Partidazo 4K and beIN La Liga 4K channels.
Movistar is so far the only Spanish pay-TV company to have not offered 4K content. Movistar subscribers will be able to watch the 4K content through the new STB that the company launched back in May.
Movistar’s 4K offer will be minimal compared to those of Vodafone and Orange. Currently Vodafone offers seven 4K channels including Canal Odisea, Slow, Decasa, Canal Cocina, Funbox, Festival 4K and Insight 4K. Orange is also offering several 4K channels like Fútbol 4K, Canal Cocina, Odisea and All Flamenco.
