July 23, 2018
The HbbTV Association, a global initiative dedicated to providing an open standard for the delivery of broadcast and broadband services through connected TVs and set-top boxes, has announced that its new version of the HbbTV conformance test suite has been published.
This is the second and most relevant release out of the three annual releases. The release is called v2018-2 and includes 75 new approved tests and 107 repaired and re-approved tests following feedback from users.
“This latest release illustrates the HbbTV Association’s commitment to enabling the most reliable and comprehensive viewing experience in today’s advanced television environments”, said Vincent Grivet (TDF), Chair of the HbbTV Association.
The v2018-2 release includes test cases for the overall 2.0.1 specification and specifically covers the most differentiating features of HbbTV specification v2.0.1, for example DASH, HTML5 and subtitles; as such it enables conformance testing of 2.0.1 devices. The HbbTV test suite is now rich of little less than 2,000 tests.
The test suite is available free of charge to all HbbTV members or can be used by any non-member organisation through one of the registered HbbTV test centres.
