Spain’s top-flight football league La Liga is planning to launch an OTT sports channel in August. The president of La Liga, Javier Tebas confirmed the news in an interview with Expansion, saying: “La Liga will launch its own multi-sport Internet channel,” as a way to “better directly reach our fans”.
The ethos of the channel is “finding a way to give visibility to those sports which are not part of mainstream channels,” Tebas added.
The OTT channel will include live and on demand content. As well as a selection of highlights and studio programming from LaLiga 1/2/3, live sports such as basketball, cycling, baseball, badminton, fencing, handball and more will be featured on the channel.
The new OTT channel will be free of charge and forms part of the LaLiga4Sports project to distribute content digitally.
