Spain’s dominant telco Telefónica ended 2017 with FTTH passed through 20 million homes and businesses.
The company plans to speed up the deployment of FTTH networks with the aim of covering the whole of the country with symmetrical optic fibre by 2020.
In unison, Telefónica will also start the deployment of 5G this year with two Spanish cities -Segovia and Talavera – acting as the main test bed for the new services. Along with Nokia and Ericsson, Telefónica will develop 5G services with 1-10 Gbps speeds.
