Quarterback turns smartphone into live TV receiver
February 15, 2017
Airwavz.tv has launched Quarterback case in the US – a device which turns smartphones and tablets into portable televisions by enabling them to play free broadcast programming. An antenna built into the case receives HD TV signals directly from broadcast towers without needing Wi-Fi or cellular coverage.
“While the television spectrum is plentiful, it is vastly under-utilised, so our team set out to develop the hard science of harnessing TV on a portable device,” said Bonnie Beeman, founder and CEO of Airwavz.tv. “We succeeded in creating a unified bridge between wireless carriers, smartphones and broadcast TV stations and now consumers will be amazed at how good high-definition digital TV looks on a phone or tablet.”
