TVB Hong Kong tops 1m OTT users

TVB Hong Kong, says its ‘myTV Super’ OTT service has topped 1 million users in the past six months. The service was announced in January and went ‘live’ in April.
The service was launched in order to compete with Netflix.
TVB says the total number of myTV SUPER users has reached 1,037,777 including 312,359 OTT TV boxes sold through ISPs or various retail outlets and 725,418 active App users.
TVB spokesman said, “We are excited that the number of myTV Super users has grown to more than a million in just six months. When launching the myTV SUPER on 18 April this year, we had the vision of creating a second platform to meet changing viewing habit and viewers’ need for more diversified contents. Today we are very encouraged that one million people have recognised that vision.”By Chris Forrester
