YouTube Kids rolls out in UK

YouTube has launched its YouTube Kids app in the UK and Ireland, nine months after ithe service went live in the US whre it ahs been downloaded over 10 million times.
The app provides a filtered selection of videos and channels that are suitable for children and also removes social features like the comments section and the ability to upload content. It also blocks inappropriate search terms
The UK version of YouTube Kids emphasises local channels, including estbalished children’s brands like Thomas The Tank Engine, Wallace & Gromit and The Magic Roundabout. They sit alongside digital brands like nursery-rhymes channel Little Baby Bum, Minecraft gamer Stampy and cartoon series Talking Tom and Friends.
The ad-funded app is a free download for Android and iOS devices.
