Technical fault connects Spain to Netflix France
October 22, 2015
From David Del Valle in Madrid
A technical failure hampered the launch of Netflix in Spain with users through Vodafone being connected to the French version of the streaming service instead of the Spanish one due to misidentification.
Vodafone’s subscribers were wrongly redirected to the French website of Netflix. Apparently, Netflix website identified the IPs associated to the operator as if they were French due to a technical failure. As a result, the affected Spanish users could not be registered in the Spanish version of the service with no access so to the Spanish catalogue.
Netflix has said that the failure is now resolved.
