Italian commercial broadcaster Mediaset is targeting 200,000 new subscribers for its pay-TV service, Mediaset Premium, by the end of the year, taking the total to two million.
According to Mediaset Premium CEO, Franco Ricci, the pay-TV platform currently has 1.77 million subscribers, to which should be added pre-paid cards. At the end of 2014, Mediaset Premium had 1.72 million subscribers.
However, Ricci did not want to comment any possible alliances in the pay-TV sector, adding that Mediaset Premium is competing on a “day to day” basis with its main rival (Sky Italia). He added that this is a very important moment for the company, as after years of a defensive policy, Mediaset Premium is trying to “attack” the market share of its rival.
