Eurosport scores FA Cup rights in Germany

Eurosport has acquired the exclusive TV and digital rights for the FA Cup in Germany until the 2017/2018 season. The deal includes live, delayed, highlights and news rights as well as sublicensing rights.
The agreement also includes exclusive rights to the FA Community Shield, the trophy which brings together the previous season’s FA Cup and Premier League winners.
Eurosport’s viewers in Germany will be able to enjoy the FA Cup from this weekend with live coverage of the round of 16. The channel’s broadcast kicks off on February 15th with Aston Villa against Leicester and Arsenal against Middlesbrough. Live action will follow on February 16th with Preston North End taking on Manchester United.
Jean-Thierry Augustin, CEO of the Eurosport Group, said: “We are very pleased to further increase our football coverage with the addition of such an extensive and exclusive agreement for Germany. It underlines Eurosport’s strategic ability to deliver strong content and key rights on a local level as well as internationally. This deal is another demonstration of our regional approach after the recent signing of the MotoGP rights for the German market.”
