Serbia’s government says that around 38 per cent of homes in the country will have to buy a new digital set-top box because their TV sets are not suitable for digital TV reception.
Serbia’s Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications Tatjana Matic said the upcoming changes to all-digital broadcasting would impact 800,000 – 1 million homes who have yet to buy a new digital-ready TV set, or converter box.
However, lower-paid and many retired people will receive free or heavily subsidised boxes.
Serbia has set next June 17th as its analogue switch-off date.
