Amazon to test ‘binge’ model
July 14, 2014
Amazon is to follow the method of fellow streaming service Netflix by releasing all episodes of an upcoming series simultaneously.
The TV studio division of the online retailer will release all 10 episodes of its new comedy Transparent at the same time in September in a move that reflects the ‘binge’ model taken by many Netflix users.
Amazon has already released its own shows Alpha House and Betas, both airing in a traditional staggered manner. However, Amazon executives have expressed a desire to adapt their model to releasing all episodes at once. This would follow the method used by Netflix, which has launched full seasons of shows such as House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black immediately.
