July 10, 2014
Fox International Channels (FIC), 21st Century Fox’s international multimedia business, continues to extend the distribution of its general entertainment channel, Fox, after securing wide distribution rights on Boxer DTT in Sweden.
The announcement arrives just a few days after the announced upcoming launch of Fox to 1.8 million subscribers on Com Hem’s cable network with a DTT licence secured until 2020 in Sweden, the upcoming Boxer launch further increases Fox’s subscriber base by around 500,000 across all major Boxer packages. The Boxer and Com Hem distribution agreements allow Fox to reach 2.3 million subscribers, which equates to a market penetration of 52 per cent in Sweden.
The launch of Fox Sweden is another milestone in the distribution strategy for FIC brands, which for more than a decade have included the factual channels National Geographic Channel and Nat Geo Wild. Fox will be the first FIC entertainment channel in the Swedish market and is an integral part of FIC’s strategy to boost the distribution of its flagship brand throughout Europe.
