News giant CNN has let go an estimated 50 positions from its facilities in New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Washington, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Some staff from CNN’s news-gathering and library staff are affected.
Twenty-eight jobs have gone from the broadcaster’s CNN Digital and CNN Money although many of these people can apply for reassigning to departments that are hiring staff. The CNN Money division works closely with Time (magazine)-owned Fortune magazine, and given the restructuring at Time Warner and the spin-off of the Time publishing division it is expected that CNN Money will be a stand-alone department from June 1st.
